Anyway, I decided not to take the job. I can't work a consistent 50 to 60 hours a week for so little reward, especially if this is a job I've never tried before. It would be another story if I had some experience in this area and knew I would really love it or have some really good benefits. The good news is, they are a recruiting agency, so I am still on their list of potential placements.

Mostly laboratory work and environmental consulting. I have my degree in chemical engineering, but I never got my certifications (stupid, I know now). This position was for a scientific/technical recruiting agency. They were looking for someone with a technical background to train as a new recruiter.

I am incredibly nervous. All-City honor band tryouts are today. It is incredibly hard to get into... I'm fairly competetive.

Gah! They gave me a 7:30pm tryout time too, so I have to wait all of this time from when I got home from school to when I have to go try out. Ahhhhhh.

wow i hate band. no offesne to u but i hate it. ive gone thoruhg ummmm 8 years of it and im tired of it. it mite be b/c i play the french horn and usually get stuck playing whole notes but stil i hate it. so if u love it good keep on going since it looks like yur pretty good at whatever u play. eh o well i guess u wil have that.

Well, band was plenty interesting when you got to play first chair on one of the instruments that had the melody as opposed to an instrument that was left with the harmony. My experience at least.

Man, I feel so stupid right now. I thought I was supposed to go in to my job tonight to go for training, and I was supposed to receive a call as to what time. Well, I got no call so I didn't know what exactly to do, so I called the guy who is hiring me. Turns out he didn't say Tuesday night, it was Thursday morning. I hate when I hear incorrectly. I think I'm getting deaf slowly, and its making me look incompetent.

Don't worry about it. Look at it this way: you showed responsibility and interest in the job by checking ahead. You could have just not gone because they didn't call you. It's always best to ask if you aren't sure of something.

I'll go with not hearing correctly, I have bad hearing. It sucks since it really seems to kick in when it could be most problematic.

lol bad hearing already huh? ok ya to clear it up i do play first chair and once in a blue moon i get a solo or the melody. its not easy music but i just cant stand band anymore. im sick and tired of it. piano lessons since i was 7 till now. im just sick of classical music and such.

Yeah, I used to like band. But I stopped when I hit high school, and I was pretty good too. I probably couldn't do as well anymore with my hearing trending downward. I could see myself legally deaf in my right ear (the problematic one) in a couple of years.

Anyways, I am starting to play bass guitar now. Only know a very limited bit, but I am in the process of learning.

Oh yeah, and congrats dan.
